VISION & CALL TO WORSHIP

SONG 1

Worthy of every song we could ever sing

Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring

Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe

We live for You, we live for You

Jesus, the Name above every other name

Jesus, the only One who could ever save

Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe

We live for You, we live for You

Chorus

Holy, there is no one like You

There is none beside You

Open up my eyes in wonder

And show me who You are

And fill me with Your heart

And lead me in Your love to those around me

Jesus, the Name above every other name

Jesus, the only One who could ever save

Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe

We live for You, we live for You

Chorus

Bridge

And I will build my life upon Your love

It is a firm foundation

And I will put my trust in You alone

And I will not be shaken

Chorus

SONG 2

Sing Over Me

[Verse 1]

When I am lost inside my mind

Sing me the hope I cannot find

When my despair has left me blind

Sing me the tune I’ve left behind

[Verse 2]

When all the grief pours through my hands

When I’ve forgotten who I am

I can’t feel anything but shame

Sing out and give me back my name

[Chorus]

Will you sing over me?

Will you sing over me?

Sing of the goodness

I cannot see

Will you sing over me?

[Chorus]

[Bridge]

When I sink down beneath the fear

The weight is more than I can bear

Keep singing though I cannot hear

Someday I’ll sing for you, I swear

[Chorus]

PASSING OF THE PEACE OF CHRIST

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

Gracious and Loving God,
As we open our hearts to Your Word, may Your Spirit move among us.  Illuminate our minds, that we may understand. Soften our hearts, that we may receive. Strengthen our hands, that we may embody Your truth. Amen.

SCRIPTURE

PSALM 119:21-29

21 I thank you that you have answered me
    and have become my salvation.

22 The stone that the builders rejected
    has become the chief cornerstone.

23 This is the Lord’s doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.

24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.[c]

25 Save us, we beseech you, O Lord!
O Lord, we beseech you, give us success!

26 Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.[d]
We bless you from the house of the Lord.

27 The Lord is God,
and he has given us light.
Bind the festal procession with branches,
up to the horns of the altar.[e]

28  You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
you are my God; I will extol you.

29 O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever.

LEADER: This is the word of God for the people of God

PEOPLE: Thanks be to God

SERMON

INVITATION TO THE TABLE

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

The Holy One be with you
And also with you

Open your hearts to the One who is Love
We open our hearts to you, O God

Let us give thanks to God, who welcomes the stranger
To the One who reaches across every border, we give thanks and praise

It is right, …with all the saints and angels in a chorus of thanksgiving:

Holy, Holy, Holy One
God of justice and love
Heaven and earth are full of your wonder
Hosanna among us

Holy are You, … we offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, proclaiming the mystery of faith:

Christ was birthed among us.
Christ was killed among us.
Christ rises again among us.

Pour out Your Holy Spirit…

Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, fill me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me. Hide me within your wounds. Do not allow me to be separated from you. I may praise you for ever and ever. Amen

RECIEVING COMMUNION â€‹

SONG 3

O humble carpenter, down on your hands and knees
Look on your handiwork and build a house so you may dwell in me
So you may dwell in me

CHORUS

The work was done with nothing but
Wood and nails in Your scar-borne hands

O show me how to work and praise
Trusting that I am Your instrument

O loving laborer with the sweat upon your face
Oh, build a table that I too may join you in the Father's place
Oh, in the Father's place

The work was done with nothing but

CHORUS
Wood and nails in Your scar-borne hands
O show me how to work and praise
Trusting that I am Your instrument

BRIDGE

The kingdom's come and built upon
Wood and nails gripped with joyfulness
Oh send me out, within Your ways
Knowing that the task is finished
The dead will rise and give You praise

END
Wood and nails will not hold them down
These wooden tombs, we'll break them soon
And fashion them into flower beds

The curse is done, the battle won
Swords bent down into plowshares
Your scar-borne hands, we'll join with them
Serving at the table You've prepared
O humble carpenter

SONG 3

This is the day, this is the day
That the Lord has made, that the Lord has made
I will rejoice, I will rejoice
And be glad in it, and be glad in it

This is the day that the Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it
This is the day, this is the day
That the Lord has made

DISMISSAL

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships,

so that we may live deep within our hearts.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people,

so that we may work for justice, freedom, and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war,

so that we may reach out our hand to comfort others and turn their pain into joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world,

so that we can do what others claim cannot be done to bring justice and kindness to all our children and all our neighbors who are poor. Amen.
