WORSHIP RHYTHM

STORIED CHURCH SABBATH SUNDAY | AUGUST 31

A couple of times, we intentionally choose a different rhythm. We still gathered around the table but in a new setting. This Sunday August 31, we invite you to join us in one of two ways: for a hike at Cates Park in Mebane at 10:30 AM and/or for lunch at Bright Penny Brewing at 11:30 AM.

We hope to see you on a hike or around the table as we connect with God and one another in a different and meaningful way.

1. MINDFULNESS PRACTICE

**Before You Begin:**

Take a moment to practice being present in this moment. After each practice, recite this prayer: “Draw us into your love, Christ Jesus, deliver us from fear.” Reflect on the following:

1. Name five things you see.

2. Name four things you hear.

3. Name three things you feel.

4. Name two things you smell.

5. Name one thing you taste.

2. A PRAYER OF GRATITUDE

Spend time in thanks. Think of the moments, people, and experiences that make up your journey—both the good and the hard—and hold them all with gratitude.

God, You know my story. Thank you for being with me in every moment, from the beginning to now. Help me appreciate all of it: the ups and downs, the valleys and peaks, the painful places and the fountains of love that flow from You. I praise You, for I am wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13-14). Amen.

3. SCRIPTURE READING

Hebrews 13:1-3 Let mutual affection continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them, those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured

4. REFLECTING

How have you experienced God through the hospitality of others? What choices and intentions do you need to make for tomorrow to be hospitable to others?

Guiding Prayer: God, guide me in the days ahead. Amen

5. PRAYER

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is doubt, faith;

Where there is despair, hope;

Where there is darkness, light;

And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,

Grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled as to console;

To be understood, as to understand;

To be loved, as to love;

For it is in giving that we receive,

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen.
